THE VIEW FROM MY WINDOW
or
The Many Moods of the Mountain
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have lived in this house on top of a hill for almost twenty years. I’ve enjoyed the panoramic view over the Rocky Mountain Front Range, Pikes Peak, the city lights and the prairie yet I created only very few paintings showing the view from my windows.
It was December, 2008 and my studio was particularly cold. I had no desire to work in it. Yet through the windows beckoned Pikes Peak in snowcapped glory. Up came my easel to the sun-warmed dining room where it stayed for over a year - always ready with a canvas waiting. Whenever the mood struck me or whenever the mood of the mountain called me, I painted my wondrous everyday world.
As I painted I marveled at the many moods of the mountain which in an ever shifting palette of color will change from majestic to dramatic - from ferocious to mild. And so it came about, that in an amazing visional journey, I rediscovered the view from my window.
